Distributors
The Iowa-Nebraska Equipment Distributors (I-NED) is recognized as the local affiliate for Industrial Equipment Distributors and provides services and support for retail dealers to help them prosper in the framework of the industrial equipment industry.
In January 2001, Associated Equipment Distributors recognized I-NED for its achievements in pro-business legislation, workforce development and safety. Qualifications for this award remain so stringent that only 29 local groups have received this National Founders Award.

Membership in I-NED allows you to tap into the most pertinent resources available. These are just some of the services that industrial equipment dealers see value in:
Legislation
A lobbyist is retained in each state to assure the interests of dealers are expressed. Each states legislative committee monitors and introduces legislation. A national lobbyist is also retained through the national association.
Past activities:
In Iowa, Section 322.28 (distributor or wholesaler's license), wording was added to include "special equipment" with a gross vehicle weight rating of "fourteen thousand five hundred pounds" may be issued a license as a wholesaler of a new motor vehicles of the make and model on which the equipment is installed without written authorization from the manufacturer. In Nebraska, we achieved success with bill LB 146, which changed sections 45-338 in regard to fee limits charged on installment contracts. Previously, the limit was ten dollars. The new legislation allows distributors to charge up to $100 on contracts under $25,000 and up to $250 on contracts over $25,000.
In Iowa, certain types of construction equipment are now exempt from the local option sales tax and the local school infrastructure sales tax.
Mechanics lien was modified in Iowa to include rental equipment furnished to subcontractors and contractors.
Stopped the Regional Equipment Center Bill in committee. The bill would have allowed the federal government to "dump" excess equipment at a regional equipment center in Iowa which would have had a negative impact on used equipment sales.
I-NED, along with the national association, was successful in repealing the GSA Cooperative Purchasing Law. This law would have allowed the GSA to compete with dealers for the sale of equipment to state, county, and local governments.
Education
I-NED provides the equipment dealer with educational opportunities. Knowing that only top managed dealerships will be successful, the association assembles time-sensitive, valuable information in their educational programs. Programs are presented for all employees of the dealership.
Other products and services that are available to industrial equipment dealer members, can be found at on the Products & Services section of the home page.
As you can see, I-NED is more than just dues. Its a dynamic network of resources working together to make this a profitable industry for everyone involved.
We invite you to be a member. Please take a moment to complete the application. Your participation in I-NED may provide just the edge you need to gain the advantage in todays competitive marketplace.
