Career Choices!

Service

Service Manager – Strong customer service is a must and this position ensures that it stays that way. Mix and match technicians with specific jobs and coordinate efforts with the parts and sales department to create efficient output through the service department.

Service Technician – Today’s technician services the worlds’ leading high-tech equipment. This requires not only mechanical knowledge, but expertise in electronics, hydraulics, and computers as well. A technician with the ability to handle a variety of tasks and perform quality work at a brisk pace both in-house and on the road will be highly rewarded financially.

Precision Ag Specialist – With the technological advances in agricultural equipment, most farmers are unable to fix their own equipment. This certi-fied service technician utilizes special tools and computer diagnostics to fix high-tech equipment.

Service Assembly – Superior equipment perfor-mance starts with proper set-up. Assembling equip-ment requires the precise fitting and adjustment of parts and components. A strong knowledge of elec-trical and computerized components is necessary for equipment to be adapted for precision farming.

Service Clerk – Improve service department efficiency while maintaining accurate and on-time records related to service functions. Track techni-cian performance and coordinate the proper billing and filing of claims.

Truck Driver – Drive the big rig while staying near home. Safely haul equipment to customers – most in close proximity to the dealership.

 

Sales Team

Sales Manager – Maintain the delicate balance of increasing sales while holding margins. Motivate and train sales personnel, manage inventory, and coordi-nate activities with other department. Sell equip-ment and additional attachments while drumming up business for the service and parts departments and equipment dealership.

Sales Consultant – With equipment reaching six figures, most sales at equipment dealerships are big. This position networks and develops relationships with customers, while maintaining customer profiles, pricing equipment, evaluating trade-ins, and pro-moting the service and sales department.

After-Market Sales – Rule number one in customer service is follow-up after the sale. This position com-municates frequently with dealership customers to ensure they remain satisfied with recent purchases.

 

Parts Professionals

Parts Manager – Having the right part at the right time while improving the bottom line remains the number one challenge of this position. A successful parts manager will analyze departmental perfor-mance, supervise people, and be a team player with other departments of the dealership.

Parts Counter Person – Work face-to-face with customers to locate parts. A strong knowledge of equipment, a familiarity of reference materials and manufacturer parts catalogs, and the ability to operate a computerized inventory control system are key aspects of this position.

 

Business Operations

Store Manager – Operating a multi-million dollar business requires the ability to manage the dealer-ship’s assets, build a strong team of employees, coordinate departmental activities, and steer the business into the future.

Office Manager – Oversee the intricacies of the business while monitoring the inflow and outflow of cash and paper. This position requires a strong understanding of financial reports and computer information systems.

Accountant – The essential foundation to any business is solid financial records. Understanding general ac-counting practices and the operation of a dealership computer system is a must for this position.

 


 

Financial Assistance

Various dealers offer financial assistance for students to obtain a vocational education.
Most assistance is for technician training.

Assistance can come in many forms.
Students need to contact local dealers to see if they offer any assistance.
